DPD UK is part of Geopost, the parcel group owned by France’s La Poste. It runs more than 10,000 vehicles from 85 locations and delivers more than 360 million parcels a year.
It’s also electrifying fast. More than 38% of its final-mile vans are electric, the electric fleet is passing 4,000, and over 85 million parcels went out in electric vans in 2025.
Predict
DPD’s best-known feature is Predict: a one-hour delivery window, sent to the customer by text and email. The customer can change the plan the night before or on the day, choosing another date, a neighbor, a safe place or a Pickup shop. The DPD app adds live driver tracking and changes right up until delivery.
Those messages go to the email address and mobile number entered on the shipment, and DPD asks senders to share both so it can send them. When software books the label, the customer’s email and phone have to travel from the order to DPD along with the address. Without them, there’s nowhere to send the one-hour window.
Delivery options DPD offers sellers
Alongside next-day delivery, DPD offers timed options before 10:30 or 12:00, plus Saturday and Sunday delivery. Northern Ireland gets next day by air or two days by road and sea.
Customers can choose a Pickup shop or locker at checkout, from a network of around 12,000 across the UK. Returns work the same way: the customer drops the parcel at a Pickup shop and tracks it back. Abroad, DPD reaches more than 200 countries, and DPD Direct is designed for online retailers.
Connecting DPD to Shopify
There are two ways to put DPD on a Shopify store. The first is Shopify Shipping, which sells DPD labels on Shopify’s own DPD account: DPD Next Day to mainland UK addresses, and DPD Two Day to the Scottish Highlands and islands. It needs no DPD contract, only a fulfillment location in the UK. Collections aren’t available this way, so parcels go to a DPD drop-off point.
The second is an app that connects the seller’s own DPD account and rates. DPD Integration by WebShopAssist, for example, needs a DPD business account to reach DPD’s API. It prints labels in batches and updates each order as its parcel moves.
A connection built for just one store, as a custom app created in Shopify’s Dev Dashboard, also depends on the Shopify plan. Custom apps can only read customer names, addresses, phone numbers and emails on the Grow plan or higher. On Basic, such an app can’t see the delivery address or the contact details Predict sends to.
Once a tracking number sits on the order, Shopify prints it in the customer’s shipping confirmation email, and the order status page links through to DPD’s tracking.
DPD labels from Linnworks or ShipStation
Account holders manage shipments in MyDPD, a free online service for creating shipments, booking collections, tracking and printing labels. DPD’s API covers shipping, tracking and returns, and is set up from inside MyDPD. Larger senders can link their warehouse or ERP system by EDI.
Shipping platforms connect to it as well. ShipStation connects an existing DPD UK account in minutes, and Linnworks lists a DPD UK integration. Both pull in orders from Shopify and the marketplaces and send the tracking back to wherever each order came from.
The carrier’s name travels with that tracking. When an order is processed in Linnworks, Shopify receives a fulfillment notice for each item, and Linnworks matches the carrier against Shopify’s own list. If nothing matches, it sends the name set on its postal services screen instead, and the tracking link on the order only points at DPD when that name lines up.
Building for growth
DPD is putting £330 million into seven automated distribution centers. The first two, in Crawley and Sittingbourne, opened in March 2026, each handling up to 80,000 parcels a day. It has a science-based target of net zero by 2040.
Every parcel on the books
DPD’s API and the shipping platforms around it leave plenty to connect. Orders can book their labels with the customer’s email and mobile attached, so Predict always has somewhere to send the window, tracking can flow back to every channel an order came from, and each parcel’s service can feed the order’s real cost.
Timed and weekend services each carry their own rate, so a delivery charge set once at checkout drifts from what the carrier bills. Before automating any of it, a simple ROI estimate shows whether the volume justifies it.
